On April 30th, the 2016 winners of the BC Book Prizes were announced at the 32nd Annual Lieutenant Governor’s BC Book Prizes Gala at Government House in Victoria.
The BC Book Prizes celebrate the achievements of British Columbia writers and publishers. This year’s recipients include fiction, children’s, poetry, cookbook, biography, and more.
- Peace is an Offering by Annette LeBox and Stephanie Graegin (Dial Books) – Christie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize
- A Taste of Haida Gwaii by Susan Musgrave and Whitecap Books – Bill Duthie Booksellers’ Choice Award
- All True Not a Lie in It by Alix Hawley (Knopf Canada) – Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize
- The Truth Commission by Susan Juby (Razorbill) – Sheila A. Egoff Children’s Literature Prize
- Tuco by Brian Brett (Greystone Books) – Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize
- The Real Thing by Briony Penn (Rocky Mountain Books) – Roderick Haig-Brown Regional Prize
- Transmitter and Receiver by Raoul Fernandes (Nightwood Editions) – Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize
Also at the Gala, the Honourable Judith Guichon presented the previously announced 13th annual Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence to writer and BC Bookworld publisher Alan Twigg.
