This Sunday is the 27th edition of the BMO Vancouver Marathon. The city will be filled with runners as they make their way around the city on the marathon, half-marathon, 8km and kids run. For every runner there is a multitude of people supporting them and cheering everyone along the route.
The BMO Marathon organizers have highlighted various locations around the course that are optimal to gather and cheer on your runners. As the course is a point to point run it takes some coordination to make it to more than one location along the course. Eleven Starbucks Coffee locations around the course have partnered to be neighbourhood cheer spots. Spectators can stop in until May 4th, to get a customizable cheer poster before they head out to root for their runners. Find the locations and print your own poster by clicking here.
To help keep the spectators and runners entertained along the course, the Community Music Challenge returns for another year. Thirty music groups as well as radio stations, ROCK 101, 99.3 The Fox, and CKNW AM 980 are on location throughout the city. Runners will be able to vote for their favourite band and the top 5 bands will receive cash prizes.
At the end of the race, competitors and spectators can gather at the Finishers Street Festival after the finish line for entertainment, kiss & cry with the finishers and lots of family fun.
Even if you don’t have anyone participating on Sunday, get out an cheer the runners on as they pass you if you’re somewhere along the marathon route.
