Co.ERASGA, a local contemporary dance company, is celebrating its 20th anniversary season with the world premiere of its newest presentation, Offering.
Coming to New Westminster’s Anvil Centre November 28 & 29, founder, choreographer and Artistic Director Alvin Erasga Tolentino has created a collection of solo works, performed by 6 of Vancouver’s finest and diverse dancers. Offering honours the living practice of Dance and Dancing and the challenges of keeping this art-form alive during this extraordinary time of the pandemic crisis and isolation.
How do our bodies relate, move and dance at this critical time of pandemic adversity? In this new creation, Tolentino asks each dancer to explore movement as a form of devotion and prayer allowing the dance to transcend luminous energy. Working individually and together as full-evening presentation, Offeringbecomes a performance ritual, evoking a spiritual reach for a universal interconnect, awareness, and healing for the world.
Like all Arts organizations this year, Co.ERASGA’s 20th season is faced with a challenging and unprecedented time. As it has over the last two decades, it aims to keep dance alive, along with its artists, arts partners and audiences, building on its internationally recognized vision of hybrid dance, diversity and collaborations with other artistic practices and multimedia.
Co.ERASGA’s Offering is on stage at the Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia Street, New Westminster, Saturday & Sunday, November 28 & 29, 2020
