Since its inception in 2010, Culture Days keeps spreading further and further across Canada as people realize the vital role Arts and Culture play in a community. The cross-Canada volunteer driven movement raises awareness, accessibility and encourage people to participate in the Arts. Culture Days events feature free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate “behind the scenes”—and to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, and designers at work in their community.
This year’s BC Culture Days take place September 27, 28, 29, 2013 all across the province. Big and small, self-guides and grand, there’s an event for everyone. Take a look at your neighbourhood back lane, the city’s major cultural institutions or tourist attractions to find your fun. Some local events include: Culture Days on Granville Island – hands-on, behind-the-scenes activities & entertainment throughout the Island, Come Dance With Us! – free Ballet Classes with the Goh Ballet, History Tours Of Vancouver’s Castle In The City – behind the scenes historical tours of The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, and The Canada Line Public Art – Self Guided Tours.
Hundreds of events take place throughout the weekend, to plan your itinerary visit bc.culturedays.ca, follow @CultureDays on Twitter or like on Facebook to see what others nearby and across the country are doing during Culture Days.
