This past Sunday, the third of this year’s Dine Out Vancouver Festival’s Brunch Crawls coordinated by Vancouver Foodster
The Downtown Brunch Crawl found a gang of hungry brunchers at Kingston Taphouse & Grille ready to venture through the streets of downtown Vancouver finding the tastes of brunch.
We started with the plate from Kingston Taphouse & Grille of Cornbeef Hash topped with hardboiled egg, housemade bangers with a spicy mustard and gravlax on buttermilk biscuit.
Our next stop took us to Trees Organic on Granville Street, for a pair of perfect Scones – savoury spinach & feta and sweet raspberry, white chocolate and a single source Peruvian coffee.
Across the street in the Chopra Yoga Centre, Nourish Vancouver offered a tasting of The Juice Box’s Carrot Orange Ginger and Light Green cold pressed juice, The Breakfast Sandwich – frittata with leeks, kale & shiitake mushrooms served with kale hazelnut pesto in a spelt wrap. Finished with a Dark Chocolate Ganache from Living Lotus.
Around the corner at The Copper Chimney in the Hotel Le Soleil, the indian restaurant served up a classic and tasty butter chicken with basmati rice and garlic naan.
Next was another Asian stop, Shuraku Sake Bar & Bistro presented a Japanese plate of California Rolls, Broccoli & Green Bean with Sesame Puree, and a fall-off-the-bone Baby Back Rib marinated in Teriyaki Sauce.
The next stop on the global brunch crawl took us to Frankie’s Italian Kitchen paired Chicken & Waffles with a Monsieur Andre – rye bread filled with brie, fontina, soprasetta, prosciutto, egg and hollandaise.
Italian was the next plate as well, Bella Gelateria plated Italian Toast (french toast style) topped with mascarpone & kiwi compote, Il Tricolore Brunch Pizza – tomato, crispy pancetta and mozzarella, finished with a Chocolate Cookie topped with Tahitian Vanilla Gelato.
Finally the recently opened Small Victory Bakery in Yaletown was bustling with other Brunch Crawl patrons who also decided to finish sweetly. A tasting box filled with Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant, Almond & Blueberry Brioche and one of their chewy good cookies.
There’s still time to get your tickets for the last two remaining Dine Out Vancouver Festival Brunch Crawls coming this weekend; West End this Saturday, January 31st and Commercial Drive on Sunday, February 1st.
