On Thursday September 6, 2012, Fashion’s Night Out turns 4years old, how will you celebrate?
Fashion’s Night Out (FNO), started in New York City in 2009 by Vogue Magazine and Council Of Fashion Designers of America as an event to encourage consumers to shop, therefore boosting the flagging fashion industry and economy. Coinciding with the start of New York Fashion week is brought fashion events to the masses and allowed everyone an opportunity to participate in Fashion Week. The sidewalks and shops of New York are filled with people as they try to catch a glimpse of the stars and celebrities of Hollywood and the Garment District came out to support the brands and shops throughout the city.
FNO has now grown into a global initiative with events in 18 countries around the globe, 4500 events are planned throughout the United States alone. Vancouver is joining in on the action for 2012, the first Canadian city to participate. Presented by Vancouver Fashion Showcase, FNO Vancouver features a kick off Fashion Show at CBC Studio 40 at 700 Hamilton Street at 5:30, showcasing local designers; Jason Matlo, Jacqueline Conoir, Daryl White, Evan Ducharme and other retailers. Then the celebrations and fun spreads across the city. Events are schedule on Robson and Alberni Streets in downtown Vancouver, Gastown, South Granville, 4th Ave in Kitsilano and the Shops at Morgan Crossing in Surrey all get in on the action. Besides your favourite brands like H&M, Holt Renfrew, Banana Republic, Guess, J Crew, Bebe, Gap, Boy’s Co, MAC, Tiffany & Co, Pandora and Coach look for pop-up shops hosted by Urban Tea Merchants on Alberni Street to surprise you. You can even get in on the fun sitting on the couch, online retailers ShoeMe Canada, Hive Mind Millinery and Knot Theory are participating as well.
Then, because shopping is hard work, take a break at some of the restaurants joining the FNO Vancouver team; CinCin, Thierry, Blue Water Cafe, WEST, Market by Shangri-la. Throughout the evening be on the look out for the FNO Vancouver Social Shopper Street Team and you might win your way into VIP treatment at the wrap up party at Bar None in Yaletown.
