This week I had the privilege of being introduced to Hibiki Japanese Harmony Whisky at an event at Miku Restaurant. From the master blenders of the House of Suntory, Hibiki Japanese Harmony was initially developed to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the revered Whisky makers, and is now available in Canada.
Hibiki Japanese Harmony is inspired by the 24 seasons of Japan’s old calendar. Carrying on the legacy of founder, Shinjiro Torii, the blend of the finest whiskies from the House of Suntory is a delicate combination of at least 10 malt and grain whiskies, aged in five different types of casks, from Suntory’s Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries.
Beam Suntory Japanese Whisky Brand Ambassador, Johnnie Mundell, himself with a family history in whisky, lent his vast knowledge and enthusiasm to help educate us on the amber nectar. Being able to taste some of the individual Whisky components and learn about the Japanese distilleries themselves was a treat and built the anticipation of the final sip of Hibiki Japanese Harmony.
The complexity of flavours makes Hibiki Japanese Harmony very versatile, working well in a highball, cocktail or neat over ice.
Hibiki Japanese Harmony Whisky Original Blend, 17 year old and 21 Year old is now in limited availability in BC, Alberta and Ontario Liquor Stores, approximately $100/750ml bottle, with more stock arriving as soon as possible. Perfect for the holiday entertaining season!
