Robbert van de Corput is one of the best DJs in the world but you probably don’t know his name. However, if you hear the name Hardwell you’ll know that he is a top DJ. I AM HARDWELL, the documentary takes people behind the scenes to show how Robbert became Hardwell.
I AM HARDWELL is screening across North America beginning on Wednesday, March 26th. After the red carpet documentary premiere during last year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, Hardwell brings his very special film across the pond, being released into theatres by distributor Syndctd Entertainment.
For over two and half years, Hardwell has been followed by videographer Robin Piree, the man behind Hardwell’s stunning aftermovies and Q&A concepts. During that time, Piree had been extensively filming the 25-year-old DJ/producer’s growth from being an upcoming artist to becoming an international superstar. The documentary provides a captivating inside-look on Hardwell that is just as rare as the story behind the dance music icon during a period when Hardwell’s global success grew exponentially.
The all-embracing motto of I AM HARDWELL, “If you can dream it, you can do it,” translates the dream of the 16-year-old Hardwell to someday becoming the number one DJ in the world. The documentary is a profound interview that gives personal insight on being an artist and the constant struggle that it brings, including always wanting to overcome the personal goals that you set for yourself, and always pushing to give the greatest performance of your life. Syndctd Entertainment has helped to bring this story to North America, and its co-founders have some words to say about this project:
“We couldn’t be more excited to be working with the number one DJ in the world, Hardwell, and his team to release the documentary ‘I Am Hardwell’ into movie theatres across North America. The film tells the story of an incredible journey that will resonate with music and film fans everywhere,” says co-founders Philip Camino & Jonathan Chaupin of Syndctd Entertainment.
After an official North American debut screening and Q & A with Hardwell and the director in Miami on March 26th, I AM HARDWELL screenings will be held at The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, The Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, Village East Cinemas in New York, the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Los Angeles, the Marina Theatre in San Francisco, and AMC River East in Chicago on March 27th.
