Imagine Dragons – Rogers Arena – July 30, 2015
Las Vegas band, Imagine Dragons drew their Smoke + Mirrors Tour to a close in the Pacific Northwest this week with one of the final stops at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. Marking a return since the 2014 Grey Cup Half Time Show
After opening sets by Halsey and Metric, the nearly sold out arena was eagerly anticipating the arrival of Imagine Dragons once the lights dropped for the final time. Silhouettes of the quartet appeared larger than life before the curtain dropped and the band broke into their 2015 single “Shots”. Over the course of the next 2 hours the band held the audience enraptured with their catalogue of vastly varied tunes. The band can’t be pinned to one distinct genre, showing their ability from hard rock and light pop to acoustic folk-country styles. The diversity of tunes, the bands’ skilled tunesmanship and lead singer Dan Reynolds’ charismatic stage persona. Reynolds made the vast arena feel intimate, especially when sharing his personal journey with depression and lending support and inspiration to those also dealing with mental health issues.
The audience joined in on many of the tunes, especially their biggest hits, “On Top Of The World”, “I Bet My Life” and “Radioactive” to wrap up the set and send the audience home on a high note.
Imagine Dragons Smoke + Mirrors Tour has wrapped up in North America but continues into Asia / Oceania for the rest of summer then Europe for the autumn.
