Next weekend, the second annual Lumiere Festival shines bright in the West End. December 11 and 12, the dark nights will be illuminated with interactive, colourful, festive lighting installations throughout the neighbourhood.
Inspired by the century’s old Fête des Lumières in Lyon, France, Vancouver’s Lumiere Festival strives to bring a destination event to the off-season. Lumiere Festival has teamed up with the West End Business Improvement Association, Vancouver Pride Society and Illuminating Engineering Society of BC. to make this year’s Festival burn even brighter. From the St Paul’s Hospital Lights of Hope and the West End Community Garden at Davie & Burrard St, to Morton and Alexandra Parks on Beach Avenue and every where in between light installations will be all around. Hop a ride on the free Vancouver Trolley and Hollyburn Property’s Horse-Drawn Carriage to explore the West End or stroll the neighbourhood and watch for street entertainment and other activities along the way.
