Much to the chagrin of Eastern Canadians, us West Coasters are firmly in the spring mindset. With the arrival of good weather, many cooks turn to the grill for dining inspiration.
Barbecue enthusiasts can mark their calendars for the newest addition to the grilling competition. March 22nd is the debut of the Barn Burner Barbecue Competition at the Farm Store in Chilliwack, presented by Johnston’s Pork & Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry.
“This event will unite BBQ enthusiasts from all across North America who join the quest for ultimate finger-licking barbeque,” says competition organizer Angie Quaale, owner of Well Seasoned and the host of the decade-old annual BBQ Off The Bypass competition. “There is no doubt in my mind,” she continues, “that the first Canadian Barn Burner championship will be a smoking hot event and one to remember.”
The Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event will see grillers competing in four main categories; Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken and Ribs. The team with the highest score in all 4 categories will get to take home the Barn Burner BBQ Grand Champion trophy and $5000 cash.
So if you’re one of the 22 grilling teams, gather your supplies and test your recipes for the competition, if you’re a spectator prepare to witness some great barbecue at the Barn Burner Barbecue Competition March 22nd.
