Superman is one of the most well known comic book characters and pop-cultural icons of all-time. After nearly 8 decades, there are very few people who do not know the story of the orphan from the Planet Krypton but many have no idea of the story behind the creation of the fabled comic book.
Nothing But Sky, a new production by The Only Animal theatre company gives the audience a glimpse into the lives of the creators Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel as they developed Superman and grew the comic into the legend that we know today. The production, written and directed by Kendra Fanconi, with video design by Keith Murray, stars Amitai Marmorstein and Robert Salvador. Dawn Petten, plays Joanne the inspiration for Lois Lane and the object of both men’s affections. The show artfully portrays the creator’s partnerships from inception to the 1990s. This living comic book is a treat for comic geeks while telling a touching human interest story to appeal to everyone.
Nothing But Sky runs at the Scotiabank Dance Centre until March 2nd.
