Late July and summer events are in full swing, and many Vancouver Pride events are kicking off throughout the week. My Picks of the Week include, Tasting Plates, Queer Arts Festival, Taste Victoria, Vancouver Fetish Weekend, Phillips Backyard Weekender, Vancouver Pride Run & Picnic, Whitecaps, Shorefest and Celebration of Light.
Eating: Tonight, kick off your evening with other foodies as they descend on North Vancouver for Tasting Plates: Lonsdale
Arts: In conjunction with the Pride season, Queer Arts Festival, a multidisciplinary arts fest incorporating theatre, dance, music, literature, visual arts and workshops opens Wednesday night and runs until August 9th at the Roundhouse Community Centre
Taste: Take a bite out of Victoria this weekend as Taste Victoria gets underway today with “Taste The Difference”
Concert: While in Victoria for Taste, take in the Phillips Backyard Weekender, food trucks and bands fill the back lot of the Phillips Brewery all weekend
Fetish: The Second Annual Vancouver Fetish Weekend runs July 25, 26 & 27th with Parties, Gear Balls and a Fetish Cruise allow guests to get their kinks & fetish on in venues around town
Run: Saturday morning the 10th Annual Pride Run & Walk gets underway at 9:30am at Brockton Oval
Picnic: After the run, and enjoy the sun with friends and family at the Pride Picnic in the Park at Brockton Oval from 11am until 6pm
Fireworks: Join a 100, 000 or so other revellers as the annual Honda Celebration of Light gets under way with the United States lighting up the sky with their display, France follows next Wed and Japan next Saturday.
Shorefest: Running concurrently with the Celebration of Light, Shorefest brings musical entertainment to two stages; Sunset Beach & English Bay, to keep the audiences entertained while waiting for the fireworks to begin.
Whitecaps: Show your Pride with the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday July 27th at 2pm as they take on FC Dallas at BC Place
