Picks Of The Week – June 26, 2013

Suddenly it’s summer! How do we make it to all that happens in the summer months as well as take advantage of the great summer weather on the first true long weekend of summer and Canada Day!

Spin: Swedish DJ / Producer Eric Prydz know for his creative and catchy remixes and mashups like “Call On Me” takes over the Commodore Ballroom on Sunday June 30, to give the famous sprung dance floor a test.

Cruise: Wrap up June on the water for the Summer Solstice CruiseyT.  Dance to the music of DJ Zach Shore & DJ Del along with drag performances by Joan-E & Summer Clearance as the MV Britannia takes off for a 4 hour cruise.

Jazz: Vancouver International Jazz Fest wraps up this weekend with headline performances by Nikki Yanofsky, Crystal Shawanda and Herbie Hancock

Baseball: Take a swing out to enjoy a day at The Nat, it’s Canadians vs Americans as the Vancouver Canadians host the Tri-City Americans for a 3 game home stand

Fest: Canada Day rocks in Burnaby at Deer Lake Park as Foxfest featuring Alice In Chains kicks off the holiday. Wear your red & white and enjoy a day rocking out on the slope of the park watching the show and scenery.

Playland: July 1st brings more fun and excitement as Playland starts its summer season and opens 7 days per week at 10am. Remember to buy Playland passes online to save from the gate fee.

Canada Day: The city’s largest Canada Day celebration takes place at Canada Place. One of the largest citizenship ceremonies, lots of music, activities, food, fun & games surround the site as thousands descend upon Canada Place, Stay all day and be rewarded by a spectacular fireworks display at dusk to cap off Canada’s 146th Birthday.
