The spooks are upon us, Halloween events will be everywhere but there’s plenty of non-Halloween happenings too.
The picks of the week include:
Indie: Australia’s Boy and Bear bring their engaging stage rapport and lively indie folk/rock to the Commodore Ballroom tonight.
YouTube: Down Under YouTube jokesters, The Janoskians, bring their pranks and laughs to the Vogue Theatre Wednesday.
Icon: Legend of Electronic and Industrial music Gary Numan brings his Splinter Tour to The Rickshaw Theatre on Wednesday.
Haunted: Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden has been made over into Judge Dee’s – Chinatown Haunted House, the ‘not suitable for children’ haunted garden is open until Halloween night.
Bingo: Scare up some fun, have some tacos and benefit the BC SPCA at La Taqueria – Cambie Street, wear your Halloween costume, get a free game of Loteria (like bingo), then buy more games to benefit the charity, there’s a new game every 5-10 minutes.
Keys: American rock duo, The Black Keys and British singer/songwriter, Jake Bugg fill the Pacific Coliseum at the PNE on Thursday evening.
Ice: The Vancouver Canucks attempt to scare up a win against Montreal Canadians at Rogers Arena on Thursday night.
Queens: Evil Queens come to the Liberace Halloween Ball at Heaven’s Door on Thursday with DJ Zach Shore and a special performance by Shokra
Horror: The Cascade Room’s very own Dr Frank-n-furter hosts the 3rd Annual Rocky Horror Picture Show; scary cocktails, costumes, food and fun starting at 8pm on Halloween
Yelloween: Jet Set Crew always throws a good party, check out their Annual Halloween Party presented by Veuve Clicquot at The Sutton Place Hotel on Friday night.
Boo: One of the longest running Halloween events, The Beat 94.5 presents The Bacardi BooHaHa at the Commodore Ballroom on Friday night.
Back: A spine tingling spectacle of mass proportions is what you can expect at Backdoor Halloween on Friday night at the Vancouver Arts & Leisure space on East 3rd.
Paranoia: Heaven’s Door has a full night of entertainment lined up starting at 8pm with the Happy Clowns Halloween Show then stick around for Paranoia with DJ Grind and Valynne Vile starting at 10pm
Post Mortem: Keep Halloween going into the weekend at Heaven’s Door with starting with Drag Roulette Halloween Edition then Monroe: Post Mortem on Saturday night.
Gwen: If you’re done with Halloween, go Bananas at The Cobalt for a Gwen Stefani tribute party hosted by Shanda Leer on Saturday night.
Saints: Celebrate All Saints Day with a performance of Saint Joan, running until November 23rd at The Arts Club Theatre.
Horsemen: Until Nov 2nd, The Cultch presents The Four Horsemen Project, a performance based on the works of 70s avant garde poets, The Four Horsemen.
