Mid-July and there’s lots happening in this heatwave…this week’s picks of the week include theatre, street hockey, BC Lions football and great parties and concerts.
Festival: The big draw of the week is surely the Pemberton Music Festival, a couple hours up the Sea-To-Sky highway you’ll find Nine Inch Nails, Outcast, Soundgarden, Deadmau5, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Metric, Modest Mouse and many, many more rocking the village of Pemberton all weekend.
Piano: Singer-Songwriter Tori Amos will have her faithful hanging on every note as she plays in the Orpheum Theatre tonight.
Theatre: Roam the historic theatre, dressing rooms and backstage as you experience an interactive evening of music and interactions around the site when Orpheus Project by Music on Main comes to The Cultch from July 16 to 20.
Live: After a successful run at the River Rock, the Price Is Right Live moves out to the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver for 4 nights, July 17, 18, 19 & 20.
Beats: Get dancing as DJ Krush brings the beats from Japan to Fortune Sound Club on Thursday night
Party: Strut your stuff on the Runway when Celebrities welcomes DJ Del Stamp for another edition of Liberace Thursdays
Folk: The peak of summer means it’s time for the annual celebration of music on Jericho Beach, The Vancouver Folk Music Festival welcomes Joan Baez, Tift Merritt, Ozomalti, Amos Lee, Alejandro Escovedo and loads more over from July 18 – 20.
Werk: The Astoria in East Van is ready to party as Junita Werk, Anna Propriate & Shanda Leer host Sistah Fistah! anything goes drag cabaret on Friday night.
Fusion: For a unique mix of music, food and culture head out to Surrey for the annual Fusion Festival at Holland Park on July 19 – 20
Hockey: Spend the day playing some ball hockey and raise supplies for the Food Bank as Five Hole For Food takes over the 800 block of Granville Street Saturday from noon until 6pm
Home Team: The BC Lions return to BC Place for their next two game, starting Saturday July 19 versus Montreal Alouettes
Hold: New York indie act The Hold Steady play the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond for one night, Saturday.
