Save On Meats Butcher Shop takes you back to the golden days of the neighbourhood meat shop. Butchers actually cut the sides of meat in-store and display the cuts with pride and knowledge in along bank of glass cases. Customers choose their cut and have it wrapped to order. Cheeses and deli items are also displayed to add to the meat selections. Freshly baked bread, fruit and vegetables and a selection of grocery items makes the Save On Meats Butcher Shop a one-stop shop and a valuable asset to the local community.
To follow the story of how the current owners of Save On Meats resurrected the 50 year old icon, after being closed by the previous owners two years ago, and their journey to turn the store into a financially and socially profitable enterprise watch the upcoming reality show, Gastown Gamble. The OWN Canada show follows owner Mark Brand and staff through the daily operations of the Save On Meats Diner, Butcher Shop, Offices and its attempt to promote and encourage change within the downtown east side of Vancouver.
