As we head deeper into spring, we find ourselves with renewed pandemic restrictions closing indoor dining. Restaurants are still allowed to offer take out and patios so let’s take a look at how to combine those two offerings to help support our local eateries.
If your favourite restaurant doesn’t have its own patio (yet), grab some take-out and enjoy one of the city’s public plazas that may be nearby. Most of the Plaza are located close to retail and restaurant heavy location so it’s easy to plan a picnic. Hopefully, the city will be able to bring back its trial of allowing alcohol consumption in a few of the city’s public spaces.
Since last summer, the City of Vancouver has approved more temporary patios to food and beverage locations, as well as expanding their own line up of Plazas. The plazas give people outdoor space to eat, visit, rest, or enjoy the weather while maintaining a safe distance from each other. Partner businesses and organizations are working with the City to keep the spaces are well cared-for, inclusive and comfortable.
