StageFest 2023 comes to the Anvil Theatre New Westminster June 1-10. Presented by The Stage Musical Theatre Academy and Custom Realty, the annual event celebrates the community’s young artists with three family-friendly performances over two weekends. Academy students work the entire school year to prepare and showcase their work at the Anvil Theatre. This year, their show line up invites audiences of all ages to enjoy well known stories told in a brand-new way.
StageFest is the perfect opportunity to introduce children (ages 5+) to their first live theatre experience. With shorter lengths of shows young audience members will not only enjoy this new-to-them immersive experience, but also witness people their own age courageously taking to the stage to delight an audience.
Lead by a team of fabulous directors from the local professional theatre and film industries, these students have prepared three dazzling musical theatre shows that will have you tapping your toes and humming a tune as you leave the theatre.

Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach Jr:
June 1-3, 2023
Based on the 1961 Roald Dahl children’s book, this musical adaptation features music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul with book by Timothy Allen McDonald.
Disney’s The Aristocats Kids:
June 8-10, 2023
Based on the 1970 Disney animated classic The Aristocats, this production brings the madcap adventures of this feline family & friends to life.
Anne of Green Gables: A New Musical:
June 8-10, 2023L.M. Montgomery’s timeless Canadian classic, this music features a book was written by Don Harron with music by Norman Campbell and lyrics by Don Harron, Norman Campbell, Elaine Campbell and Mavor Moore.
