On a hot August Saturday, a few hundred Vancouverites donned their summer finery and headed to Van Dusen Botanical Gardens for The Garden Party Vancouver.
Surrounded by the Garden’s lush greenery, guests were met entered The Garden Party’s grove to be greeted by a presentation of high-end cars from Mile’s End Motors. Bright white tables and decor, colourfully adorned and cool patrons filled the green space as the DJ spun relaxed but energetic tunes. Cocktails from Lillet, Perrier-Jouet Champagne, Stella Artois beer, True Leaf Ice Tea and Evian water kept people hydrated under the heat of the sun. Tea sandwiches and scones were provided by Cocktails and Canapes to whet the appetites before mingling with the other guests and their friends. Registered teams were swinging their mallets on the Croquet pitch in the round-robin Croquet Classic.
While The Garden Party may have experienced a few glitches I’d put them down to first-time trials as it seemed like everyone at the event was enjoying their afternoon in the sun. Hopefully The Garden Party becomes a regular event on the Vancouver Summer Calendar.
