Just as we’ve celebrated the fall harvest and what we’re thankful for, Vancouver’s Sustenance Festival keeps the city’s focus to food. Starting tomorrow, dozens of community, food inspired events take over the city from art exhibits, workshops, potlucks, walks and talks. Themed “As We Are Together”, Community Centres and venues all around will be filled with citizens interested in growing, gather, preserving, preparing and eating their own food and that of the surrounding community.
Some of the unique events taking place at Roundhouse Community Centre are:
Yummy! A Right To Food Variety Show, October 16th features comedy, poetry, music and demonstrations highlight Food Justice.
Ripe! Harvest Celebration Dinner on October 18th is a showcase of local ingredients with some of Vancouver’s celebrated chefs creating and serving their own unique dishes.
Upstream, Moving Images of Salmon is a collection of local artists from around the BC Coast who have been moved by the wild BC Salmon, on display until November 1st.
Wild Salmon Convergence, on October 25th celebrate the Salmon with rituals, ceremonies, songs, art and networking with the Wild Salmon Caravan
