Harmony Arts Festival mixes a great Night On The Pier

A sunny, summer evening on the waterfront, cocktails, nibbles and a few hundred revellers roaming Ambleside Pier, is the recipe for another great Night On The Pier. Part of West Vancouver’s Harmony Arts Festival, Night On The Pier brought together seven of Vancouver’s top bartenders and mixologists to complete with each other for the superior sip.

Visitors were able to stroll Ambleside Pier and sample each of the libations created with a featured spirit. Amongst the cocktail stations were light bites from Sebastian & Co. Fine Meats, Las Margaritas, Cocoa Progressive Latin Restaurant.

Harmony Arts Festival – Night On The Pier

Last week Harmony Arts Festival presented its 3rd Night on the Pier, a celebration of cocktail culture. Under the late-day heat of the setting sun, Ambleside Pier was filled with visitors seeking thirst quenching cocktails.

Nine of Metro Vancouver’s top mixologists poured their original cocktail creations for guests to sample and enjoy, alongside small bites from Mamie Taylor’s, Feast the Neighbourhood Table, Sebastian & Co. Fine Organic Meats Ltd, Las Margaritas, Two Rivers Meats & Backyard Eatery.

Winner: Cocktails At Tiffany’s, and Las Margaritas house-made salsa & chips

After sipping all the cocktails, guests were invited to vote for their favourite to be crowned top mixologist.

After the votes were counted, Milestones’ bartender Souhail Rostainajad was crowned the people’s choice for top cocktail with his refreshing “Cocktails at Tiffany’s” featuring spirit sponsor Barcardi White Rum.

Find out who will be Canada’s Best Sommelier?

For the first time ever, oenophiles, vintners, other wine industry, and friends from all across Canada will descend upon Vancouver to find out who is Best Sommelier of Canada.

Presented by the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers the day long competition takes place at Rogers Arena starting at 9am on September 5, 2017.  The live competition is open to industry and public, and finds the top three sommeliers from across the country testing their skills against each other to who will be uncorked as #BestSommCanada.  Preliminary, closed-door competitions the day prior will select the top three from the regional winners;

Lunch for all guests will follow the Live Competition then the day continues with educational and interesting sponsor seminars from Nova Scotia’s Benjamin Bridge and Wines of Ontario

Dinner, at Victoria Chinese Restaurant will be preceded by a cocktail reception sponsored by Lifford Wines and Spirits and presented by the Canadian Professional Bartenders Association.  The Best Sommelier of Canada winner will be announced later in the evening. The Grand Prize will be presented to the winner by Gallo along with other prizes, including: trips to Argentina, flights around the world presented by the Vancouver International Wine Festival, a special trip arranged by Mission Hill Family Estate Winery, premium wines, spirits, fine Crystal from Nova Scotian Crystal, and more.

Winner of Best Sommelier of Canada earns the right to compete in Best Sommelier of The Americas in hopes of competing at Best Sommelier of the World.

Mixology Night On The Pier

West Vancouver’s Harmony Arts Festival is now underway, one of the signature events this year is Mixology Night On The Pier.  In celebration of the rebirth of cocktail culture, Mixology Night On The Pier brings together some of the city’s top bartenders for an evening of competitive cocktail creations.  Ticketed guests are invited to the pop-up beach lounge at Ambleside Pier to vote for their favourite libation, enjoy food from Bon Vivant Catering and listen to surfside entertainment throughout the evening.

Mixology Night On The Pier takes place at Ambleside Pier from 8 – 10pm on Thursday August 4th.
