Dine Out 2018 serves up more great food events & menus

Now that you’ve had a couple weeks to get over your Holiday indulgences, Dine Out Vancouver Festival 2018 is here to serve you mouth watering events and set menus.

The 2018 line up of food events has been selling fast already and now the set menus have been released for participating restaurants to start taking reservations.   Three hundred + restaurants, wineries, breweries, and suppliers from Abbotsford to the North Shore, are featuring set lunch and dinner menus at $20, $30, and $40 for the 17 day Dine Out Vancouver Festival.

In addition to the set menus, check out over 40 unique food and drink events ranging from food tours, and food trucks to specialist tastings, to international chef collaborations, secret suppers and VQA wine tastings.

The Art of Tea Gastronomy at TWG Tea Salon & Boutique, Vancouver – various dates.

Tasting Plates : Stadium District – Recap

This week, Vancouver Foodster’s Tasting Plates : Stadium District was a journey of discovery around the downtown Vancouver areas surrounding BC Place and Rogers Arena.

As the area grows with development of new residences and hotels, eateries are appearing and upgrading all around the blocks.  Tasting Plates : Stadium District kicked off with everyone congregating at the two month old Pappa Roti at 193 Keefer Place, then taking off on a exploration of the district.

The Tastings Platers experienced an array of flavours and styles on the evening.  Restaurants and chef’s prepared the following plates to show off their menus:

Pappa Roti: Coconut Rollie, a light bun with young coconut filling and Signature Original Coffee Bun, fluffy roti with a delicate caramel crust.  Served with a choice of beverages like Ice Blended Signature Chocolate

 

 

Stretch Roman Pizza Co. : the former Zero Zero Pizza keeps serving great pies fresh from the oven;
-Primavera – Mozzerella, Roasted Red Pepper, Artichokes, Roasted Mushroooms, Kalamata Olives, Red Onions, Pecorino Romano

-Prosciutto & Arugula with Lemon Zest
-Paprika Chicken Pesto : Pesto, Mozzarella, Bell Peppers, Olives, Onions, Paprika Marinated Chicken

 

The Poke Guy :  Feel Good Poke is their motto and they deliver with fresh Ocean Wise wild fish and seafood along with fresh greens and rice.

 

 

 

Their tasting bowl included Ahi Tuna, Sockeye Salmon, Gochujang Spicy Shrimp atop seasoned white rice and greens, with asian slaw and served with a refreshing Passionfruit, Orange, Guava juice.

Hendricks Resto-Lounge : the recently refurbished restaurant within the Westin Grand Hotel offered a tasting duo;

 

 

 

-Ginger Beer Braised Beef Short Rib upon a Celery Root Croquette topped with julienned Veggies
-Buttermilk Brined Crispy Chicken with Spicy Sauce and Lettuce on a plump Bun Slider

 

Elements Diner: East meets West at the year-old diner with their Tasting Plate and Tasting Cup

– Roasted Beet Salad with Preserved Lemon – Beets, Orange, Fennel, with Preserved Lemon Vinaigrette
– Warmed Salmon Salad on Avocado – Baked Avocado topped with Salmon and Mozzarella
– Chinese Golden Egg French Fries – French Fries coated with Chinese Golden Egg
– Thai Chicken Pineapple Rice Pizza – Pan Fry Chicken, Pineapple, Sweet Chili Sauce on Crispy Rice Pizza
– Lemon Glass Jelly Bubble Tea – House Made Lemon Glass Bubble Tea with Taiwan Glass Jelly
– Dessert was a bonus BC Dome Ice Cream Sandwich – Vanilla Ice Cream, with Black Sesame inside a Pineapple Danish-Style Bun

Tasting Plates Downtown South coming September 16
