With a line-up out the door, Hubhub Sandwiches opened their newest location at 420 Robson Street last Thursday. The second location for the popular Hornby Street sandwich shop, this location is sure to enshrine Hubbub as a contender in the Vancouver sandwich scene. A location surrounded by ESL Schools, Hotels, Offices and Residences, east Robson is a great location for a stand-out sandwich. For those who know Hubbub it comes as no surprise that the line was out the door on opening day, for those new to Hubbub it’s a fresh revelation. The simple menu starts with the decision of a sandwich or salad, then a choice of 5 fillings – Pulled Pork, Turkey Sausage, Chicken Breast, Prawn or Veggie. Sides of Quinoa Salad, local Potato Chips, “Clean Slaw”, Soup or Chocolate Chip Cookies can round off the meal.
On my first visit I choice the Turkey Sausage Sandwich, a nicely spiced, locally made chorizo style sausage. All sandwiches are served on a toasted baguette with romaine lettuce, cilantro, pickled jalapenos, caramelized onions (which I removed due to a food sensitivity) and Hubbub’s secret sandwich sauce. The combination of ingredients made for a satisfying and very tasty lunch, perfectly filling without the need for a side. With each sandwich or salad under $9, its not too hard on the budget to have multiple lunches in the week. I look forward to returning to try the other fillings.
