Vancouver seems to be a hotbed of underwear and performance activewear companies, 2UNDR Performance Wear is one that combines the two for a performance undergarment.
The Vancouver designed athletic underwear is inspired by the kangaroo pouch and can stand-up to a busy active lifestyle but also stay comfortable and stylish for everyday wear. Many brands have developed their own version of a pouch designed to keep a man’s equipment in place and eliminate unwanted skin-on-skin contact and chaffing. I’ve tried many styles of pouch some are more successful in their goal than others, so far the 2UNDR ‘Joey pouch’ lives up to its mission. I particularly like the comfort of the ribbing around the edge of the pouch. It’s thin enough to avoid bulk but thick enough for comfort, I barely felt the pouch whereas some other underwear you can definitely ‘feel’ the edges of the pouch. Another bonus is the exterior fly, allowing easy access and added ventilation to keep things cool in the pouch. The waistband is very comfortable too; soft, pliable, and strong. Since I have fairly athletic thighs I often find the leg band of some underwear can be either quite tight or will ride up, 2UNDR seems to be a good balance of tight and comfortable.
2UNDR comes in 4 boxer brief/trunk styles; Swing Shift, Day Shift (which I’ve tried), Gear Shift and Power Shift, available online from $27.50 to $34.99 No matter what your lifestyle I think you’ll be pleased with 2UNDR Performance Wear
For the month of February, MCKILLOP Underwear has introduced a limited edition line of briefs, boxers and jocks with a red & white Russian inspired floral pattern – To Russia With Love by MCKILLOP.
The continued suppression of the LGBT community by the Russian government, highlighted by the upcoming Sochi Olympics, spurred the MCKILLOP company to shrug off its normally conservative leaning stance on promoting its products and create a micro-site and micro-line to counter the Russian government’s position. Running to coincide with Sochi 2014, the pop-up site at mckilloptrwl.blogspot.ca will run all month and features some provocative shots of model Angelo and adult entertainer Dean Monroe modelling the underwear. As well, the site features links, information and news on the Russian LGBT community, to help raise awareness of the situation.
If you’re in New York today, don’t be alarmed if you suddenly see groups of people appear in their underwear, they’re just taking part in National Underwear Day. This year the organizers, the online undie retailer, Fresh Pair, is trying to break a Guinness World Record for most people gathering in their underwear. The record stands at 2270, they’re hoping to break that in Times Square, between 46th & 47th, today at 5pm est. So if you’re in New York and want to be part of history, drop your drawers and join in.
National Underwear Day was founded by Fresh Pair in 2003, to publically celebrate underwear by hosting NYC model events, underwear giveaways, a pop-up shop in Columbus Circle, and a Times Square runway show. Throughout the years, Fresh Pair has heard from many people who have written and shared acts of confidence; cancer survivors struggling to regain their lives, men and women suffering with poor body image, and young and old embracing their sexuality.
In conjunction with National Underwear Day, Fresh Pair has a 25% off sale to help make sure you’re unmentionables are worth mentioning.
Once again runners will be dropping their pants and sprinting through the city in the annual Underwear Affair. Benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation, Underwear Affair’s goal is to draw attention to cancers below the belt – prostate, colorectal, ovarian, testicular, bladder, cervical, and uterine. The 10km run and 5km walk are joined by the new event Booty Hunt, an urban scavenger hunt through the streets of the city looking for a cure to the below-the-belt cancers. Grab your whole gang of BFFs, work friends, workout buddies, booty calls (especially them), significant others, landlord, frenemies, anyone and everyone and hit the streets! Underwear Affair events start off from Lot 6C – 88 Pacific Boulevard (Next to Roger’s Arena), Booty Hunt competitors check-in at 1pm before being released on the streets at 2pm. Run and walk check-in starts at 3:30pm, stretching exercises happen at 5:45pm then the run starts at 6:00pm followed by the walk. So don’t be alarmed if you are passed on the street by someone, or a whole bunch of someones, in their skivvies. Cheer them on!
