Vancouver Foodster Iced Summer Drink Challenge Is On.

Vancouver Foodster has the perfect way to beat the heat this summer with the Iced Summer Drink Challenge. Running from July 5th to 28th, Vancouver Foodster has challenged cafes and restaurants around Metro Vancouver to create their best iced drink for the summer.

There’s plenty of variety so get out and try any or all of the unique Iced Summer Drinks entries prepared by the participating cafes.

The restaurants have entered their favourite chilled beverage, either from their existing menu or come up with a unique recipe for their Vancouver Foodster Best Iced Summer Drink Challenge cup. The chef’s entries range from simple to fancy, their refreshing beverage creation can made of coffee, tea, soda, lemonade, frappe, shake or kombucha based drink, using unique and innovative ingredients.

As with all of Vancouver Foodster’s food challenges, a panel of media judges (including myself, @pigoutyvr and @shelleyhayashi) will taste and crown the Judges’ Choice Best Summer Drink.  The public is also invited to try any or all of the entries, then vote for their fave to claim the title of People’s Choice Iced Summer Drink creation at vancouverfoodster.com/ice-summer-drink-challenge. On social media, tag your iced tea drinks with #IcedSummerDrinkChallengeYVR and see what other’s are enjoying along the Best Iced Tea Challenge.

4th Vancouver Foodster Taco Challenge is on now!

It’s time for the 4th Vancouver Foodster Taco Challenge. The sun is finally creeping out of it’s winter cocoon and Taco’s are the perfect food to get you in a sunny mood.

Restaurants from all over the city were invited by Vancouver Foodster to enter their own unique Taco creations into the Taco Challenge. Some of the restaurants and food trucks have created a special taco creation just for this challenge and others have entered their top choice off their existing menu. Each restaurant and food truck will be featuring their taco creation on their menu until June 4, 2017.

The public is invited to order these Taco masterpieces and taste with the judging criteria in mind – originality, creativity, uniqueness, traditional, non-traditional, price, value and most importantly taste. Taco tasters can vote the same day after trying the creation and they can vote once a day throughout the promotion to choose the People’s Choice Winner.

Vancouver Foodster Pizza Challenge 2015

vf_pizza_web_2015Thursday, the Vancouver Foodster Pizza Challenge gets underway.  From March 5th to 28th, fourteen pizzerias from Vancouver, Burnaby, & North Vancouver will present their creative take on a classic pizza.

Like all Vancouver Foodster Challenges, diners can expect to find unique flavours, creative presentations and hopefully find a new restaurant or two along the way.  The public is invited to vote once per day for their People’s Choice, favourite pie.

The Judges Choice winner will be determined by a panel of tasting judges including myself and radio broadcaster Jennifer Thomson, Adrian Harris from @FoodGays & Breakfast Television’s Thor Daikow.  Follow the judges on Twitter to follow their exploration of the Pizza Challenge competitors.

Vancouver Foodster Flatbread Challenge 2014

vf_flatbread_webGo flat out this June! Get out and taste your way around the world on The Vancouver Foodster Flatbread Challenge. A diverse range of restaurants are participating in this month’s food challenge, which runs from June 4 – June 25, 2014.

The restaurants have created a new flatbread dishes to add to their menu, the public are encouraged to head out and try the dishes then vote on their favourite. When voting, keep these in mind: originality, creativity, uniqueness, traditional, non-traditional, price, value and most importantly taste. You can vote for your favourites once per day throughout the Challenge, voting ends on June 26, 2014 with the winner of the People’s Choice will be announced following the close of competition.

As with recent Vancouver Foodster Challenges, there will be a panel of 4 media judges selecting their choices for favourite Flatbread. I have the privilege of being included in the panel for this Challenge along with;

Take the @VanFoodster Taco Challenge

vf_taco_webVancouver Foodster’s latest food challenge brings one of everyone’s favourite Mexican dishes to the forefront. The Taco Challenge features 8 Mexican and Non-Mexican restaurants in Vancouver, North Vancouver and Richmond competing between May 9-31, 2014.

As with all the Vancouver Foodster challenges, there will be 2 sets of winners. The People’s Choice winners will be selected by the public who are invited to order the Taco dishes at of the participating restaurants and then vote on which ones they think are worthy of winning the challenge. Van Foodster Pizza Challenge

vf_pancake_web_1_aEveryone loves Pizza, so it seems like a natural choice for the next Van Foodster Food Challenge.  The Pizza Challenge features 14 participating restaurants in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Maple Ridge that runs until July 14, 2013.
Participating restaurants have created a new unique pizza creation (challenge guidelines require this pizza can-not be on their menu currently) to enter in this Best Pizza challenge.  Each Pizza creation can be simple to fancy, using unique and innovative ingredients, any type, as nutritious or indulgent as they wanted, perhaps with seafood, meats or vegetarian, “I told them to be imaginative” says Challenge creator Richard Wolak.

Wolak has made some changes to the voting procedures to this Food Challenge.
This time around once people have ordered and tried the Pizza creations in this challenge at the participating restaurants, if they love that pizza, they can vote on their mobile phones or ipads from their table in the restaurants or later in the day. People can cast their vote once a day, so if they are visiting the other participating restaurants daily or during the promotion they can vote for their other favourites as well.

While voting, the public is urged to keep these criteria in mind; originality, creativity, uniqueness, traditional, non-traditional, price, value and most importantly taste. Then once they’ve decided which is their favourite, they are encouraged to VOTE at vancouverfoodster.com/pizza-challenge/

Vancouver Foodster: Chicken Wing Challenge

Vancouver Foodster Chicken Wing ChallengeThere’s few people who don’t love Chicken Wings, they’re a popular choice for a late night nibble, after work snack, lunch time meal or partner for a beer. Due to their popularity, Vancouver Foodster Richard Wolak has chosen to feature Chicken Wings as his next food challenge.
Featuring 13 restaurants and pubs in Vancouver, Coquitlam, and Richmond the challenge runs until June 9, 2013.

Participating restaurants are either showcasing Chicken Wings creations that were specially created for this challenge or already on their menu and will be offered in all of these restaurants from May 14- June 9, 2013. The public is invited to visit any of the participating establishments and order the Chicken Wings creations and then decide on which ones they think are worthy of winning the challenge.

The public is invited to visit any or all of the participating restaurants, try their chicken wings creation then vote for their favourite.  When voting, diners should consider originality, creativity, uniqueness, traditional, non-traditional, price, value and most importantly taste.
