The Forbidden City: Inside the Court of China’s Emperors, is now open at the Vancouver Art Gallery and on view until January 11, 2015
The exhibition brings together 5 centuries of Chinese culture; paintings, ceramics, jewelry, metalware, textiles and cultural artifacts, curated from Beijing’s Palace Museum.
Throughout the main floor of the Gallery, guests are taken through key sections of the daily life of The Forbidden City. From the grand entrance, through the throne room, clothing, servants, dining and battle are all represented. The artifacts are not only culturally significant but artistically stunning and intricate. With historic information added to the displays for relevance, the whole exhibit is as educational as beautiful.
With so many items on display, The Forbidden City: Inside the Court of China’s Emperors is worth an extended visit or maybe two.
