Next Thursday, August 14th, The Vancouver Queer Film Festival, gets underway with a gala opening reception at Vancouver Playhouse before the screening of The Way He Looks. Then 11 nights later the city’s second largest film festival wraps with GIRLTRASH: All Night Long on Sunday August 24th.
In between is a diverse mix of films that celebrate the stories of the LGBT community. Feature films, panels, shorts, parties and performances round out the week’s events, taking place a venues all around the city. Fundraising for its community program, Out In Schools, is another big part of the Festival, moneys are raised by donations at events and the Out In Schools Lottery. Lottery tickets are $20 each and offer the chance to win three great prizes; a 12 day trip to Greece, a Electra Bicycle and a Helijet trip between Vancouver & Victoria.
