This weekend Coachella Music & Arts Festival gets underway, marking the unofficial start of the West Coast Festival season. Here‘s a few of the festivals coming to the West Coast this year that make for a great weekend or day out.
Apr 11 – 13 & April 18 – 20: two weekends for Coachella Music Festival headlined by Outkast, Muse & Arcade Fire
Apr 11 – 20: Whistler comes alive with the World Ski & Snowboard Festival fills the village with music, arts and sports, kicked off by De La Soul.
Apr 16 – 20: Blueprint Events fills Vancouver with the dance music as SEASONS Electronic Music Festival takes over a variety of venues.
May 22 – 26: The small town of Bradley, California swells with music, yoga, speakers, workshops and performances during the Lightning In A Bottle festival, featuring a DJ set by Moby, Simian Mobile Disco, Ana Sia, Govin Das and Radha.May 23 – 25: Sasquatch Festival at The Gorge in Washington State features Outkast, Queens of the Stone Age, The National, M.I.A, Foster The People , Kid Cudi and many more.
June 11: Vans Warped Tour gets underway for another year, unfortunately no Vancouver stop is scheduled, the closest venues are Washington State’s White River Amphitheatre on June 28th and Portland Expo Centre on June 29th.
June 14: Deer Lake Park is the site of CBCMUSIC.CA Festival with Tegan & Sara, Hannah Georgas, Spoons, Arkells and more.
June 18 – 22: Calgary’s Sled Island festival brings Music, Comedy & Film to the city with Spiritualized, Neko Case, St Vincent, Horatio Sanz, Fred Armisen and many more.
June 20 – 22: Electric Daisy Carnival brings one of the biggest EDM events to Las Vegas.
June 27 – 29: The Tall Tree Festival brings Dan Mangan, Jon & Roy, The Dudes, Good For Grapes and more to Port Renfrew on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
July 4 – 13: The world famous Calgary Stampede has a big line-up of country, rock and pop stars like Dean Brody, Serena Ryder, Sean Desman, Corb Lund, Dragonette, Anjulie, K-OS, Hedley and Sam Roberts Band.
July 11 – 13: Victoria’s Rock The Shores fest expands to three days of great music with its recently announced lineup including Billy Talent, Our Lady Peace, and The Wallflowers.
July 11 – 13: The Comox Valley come alive with Vancouver Island MusicFest’s diverse lineup including Bonnie Raitt, Angelique Kidjo, The Mavericks and Blind Boys of Alabama.
July 17 – 20: Get In Touch with your soul with Yoga and Music at Wanderlust California in Squaw Valley, CA
July 18 – 20: The Pemberton Music Festival breaks the quiet of the little village north of Whistler with its newly announced, long awaited lineup that includes Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, Frank Ocean, Outkast & many more.
July 18 – 20: The Annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival brings thousands to Jericho Beach Park to hear great music on the shores of English Bay.
July 25 – 27: Seattle’s Capital Hill Block Party takes over the neighbourhood for the annual 3 day festival.
July 31 – Aug 4: The village finds its zen as yoga and music comes to the slopes for Wanderlust Whistler.
Aug 7 – 9: Country fans gather in Mission BC for Rocking River Musicfest with Rascal Flatts, Terry Clark, Julian Austin and more.
Aug 8 – 10: Just a quick drive from Vancouver, Squamish Valley Music Festival is headlined by Bruno Mars, Arcade Fire and Eminem.
Aug 8 – 10: Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco ties in music, food, drink and art into one festival.
Aug 8 – 11: the 17th Annual Shambala Festival brings over 300 acts to the depths of BC wilderness at the Salmo River Ranch in the West Kootenays.
Aug 9: For one day only, the annual Burnaby Blue & Roots Festival returns to Deer Lake Park.
Aug 30 – Sep 1: Seattle’s renowed Bumbershoot fills Seattle Center with music and arts for another the 2014 edition.
Sep 11 – 14: Rifflandia brings art and music to dozens of venues around Victoria.
Sep 24 – 28: Seattle’s 11th Annual Decibel Festival of electronic music, visual arts and new media.
