Cirque Alfonse’s Barbu, one of the most exciting shows of the season has swooped into action at The Cultch Historic Theatre.

Billed as ‘A Retro Circus Rave’ the Quebec-based company brings an energetic combination of age-old circus center-ring acrobatics and side show acts to the Historic Theatre. Backed by a three piece band of Josianne Laporte, David Simard and Sunny Duval, the seven performers Antoine Carabinier Lépine, Laura Lippert, Jonathan Casaubon, Jean-Philippe Cuerrier, Lucas Jolly, Geneviève Morin, and Ugo Dario thrill the audience over the 75 minutes show. In the intimate confines of the Historic Theatre, the audience and performers intermingle as the action takes to all four corners of the stage and stands.
Under Artistic Direction of Antoine Carabinier?Lépine and Julie Carabinier-Lépine, Barbu takes its cues from the 19th and 20th century origins of the circus in Montreal.
is a blend of thrilling acrobatics, mesmerizing magic, side-show curiosities and comedy. With audience members on-stage right beside the action, the live music pumping and quirky video backdrop the senses are in overdrive. As the action heats up, the outfits get skimpier and the sweat is literally flying as they fill every spot of the stage with the thrills, spills and excitement. Audible gasps and cheers, spontaneous applause burst forth as the amazing performers wow the audience with their daredevil and sexy spectacles. Quirky comedy breaks up the adrenaline rushes with fits of laughter.
