Carousel Theatre for Young People (CTYP) is now playing the second production in its AudioPLAY season, Rishi & d Douen, an interactive audio performance produced by Rumble Theatre. Recommended for children ages 6+, Rishi & d Douen is available until February 28th, for listening at home or in the classroom.

Listeners are invited to follow along on a spiritual adventure of displaced Caribbean folklore with a fun East Van sensibility to its enlightening humour. While aimed at young audiences, Rumble’s audio presentation includes sophisticated topics about colonization, ancestry, and spirituality.
“This is a great fit for what we’re trying to do. With its focus on family and folklore from the Caribbean Diaspora – this show is very much part of our implicit aims to spotlight and share stories from under-represented communities – which most of us can proudly say we come from,” says Rumble Theatre Artistic Director Jivesh Parasram
Our protagonist Rishi hears forest spirits, speaks to trees, and has a special connection to their far away homeland. They’re lured back into the woods to find their missing brother and discover a mythical Douen.
Experience their journey deep into the forest and how they learn to better understand their surroundings.
“Rishi & d Douen is an absolute joy to listen to, great for all ages, with unforgettable vocal performances, and we cannot wait for audiences to hear this hilarious work by our innovative friends at Rumble Theatre,” adds CTYP Co-Artistic & Managing Directors Randi Edmundson & Shizuka Kai.
Rishi & d Douen is the second of three shows in CTYP’s 2020/21 AudioPLAY season of screen-free audio presentations with interactive elements designed to engage and excite audiences. The next production in the AudioPLAY season is Little Shrimp, running April 8-May 2, 2021.
