DanceHouse has revealed the opening shows, and a special new logo, for its 15th anniversary year.
The season begins with two extraordinary in-theatre presentations from Hofesh Shechter, one of the most exciting names in dance, and Louise Lecavalier, who continues to dominate the stage.
The special anniversary logo, designed by Rare Design, led by Keith Hamilton, plays with the long-standing branding developed 16 years ago as DanceHouse was in its infancy.
More 15th anniversary programming is still to be announced, and stay tuned to find out about this season’s Digidance series and winter/spring 2023 in-theatre events.
The season begins with:
Double Murder from Hofesh Shechter Company (UK)
October 21 & 22, 8pm @ Vancouver Playhouse
A thrilling new double bill with two contrasting pieces for our times, Double Murder explores painful truths and delves into our deepest emotions, accompanied by the epic sounds of a Shechter-composed score. The evening begins with Clowns, a sarcastic nod to our over-growing indifference to violence. The Fix offers a raw and compassionate moment to balance the forces of aggression that press on us daily.
Stations from Louise Lecavalier/Fou Glorieux (Montreal)
November 23-26, 8pm @ Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre Goldcorp Centre for the Arts
Driven by a vital impulse to dance that constantly calls her back to the stage, Louise Lecavalier continues her exploration of dance with Stations. This fiery solo traverses the ebb and flow of movement and examines the memories that live in the body. Through the stories embedded in her flesh, each movement, whether grand or subtle, reflects an attempt to articulate the human experience that lies beyond words.
