A couple of my favourite local hotels have earned well deserved accolades from the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine. Each year the magazine asks readers to rank the World’s Best hotels, and in 2012 both The Fairmont Empress & The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver were honored to be included on this prestigious list. Thirteen Fairmont Hotels & Resorts worldwide were awarded the designation, including Fairmont properties in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Kenya.
The Fairmont Empress, which majestically adorns the inner harbour of Victoria and its sister property The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Vancouver’s iconic Castle in the City, placed in the top ten of the Top City Hotels in Canada, ranked #7 and #10 respectively.
“For two of our hotels to place so highly on this prestigious list is a testament to the focus and dedication of our colleagues and the management teams at each property,” said Philip Barnes, regional vice president for the Pacific Northwest. “We pride ourselves on the authentically local
travel experiences we offer and look to turn moments into memories for each and every guest. This is the recurring theme that runs through each of our hotels.”
I’ve stayed in both properties and can agree with the T+L readers, that these two properties are worth the accolades.
