This Friday June 21st, thousands will gather for Make Music Vancouver in the streets of Gastown to watch hundreds of music acts. The 3rd annual free community event closes down Water Street and turns it into street-side stages, dance floors and showcases to highlight the city’s diverse musical culture. Inspired by La Fête de la Musique, a 30+ year event in France that has spread across the globe, Make Music Vancouver is organized by Vancouver en Français and the Alliance Française de Vancouver, and supported by the Gastown BIA.
Last year over 25,000 gathered to listen to a huge array of musical acts, this year is anticipated to bring even more people out to enjoy the sounds. The free live event runs from 5pm until 10pm on the street, then the party moves into the neighbourhood’s many bars and restaurants. The Bicycle Valet will be on hand to provide a free bike valet at the junction of Water & Alexander on the end of the Carrall Street bike lane.
Event sponsor, The Georgia Straight is celebrating Make Music with a great contest, giving away a Helijet False Creek Panoramic Sightseeing Tour for Two. Today is your last chance to enter, the contest closes at 3am on June 21st. Enter now at straight.com
