It’s official, this weekend is the first weekend of summer and sadly the days start getting shorter from here on so you’d better make the most of them!
Jazz: Nikki Yanofsky, Herbie Hancock, Macy Gray, Jim Byrnes, Bettye LaVette are just a few of the artist to perform at this year’s Vancouver International Jazz Fest when it gets underway this weekend in venues across Vancouver.
Stage: Often described at Sesame Street for adults, Avenue Q is a hilarious mix of puppetry and in-the-flesh actors as they sing and act out the day to day lives of the occupants of Avenue Q. The musical runs at the Arts Club Theatre until August 3
Show: On Saturday June 22, Portland’s Dandy Warhols take over the Commodore Ballroom stage for a unique show as they perform their album “13 Tales From Urban Bohemia” live in its entirety
Football: The BC Lions kick off their 2013 season with their final preseason test as they host Edmonton Eskimos at BC Place on Friday June 21.
Change: Saturday marks the end of “Be The Change” a fundraising drive for Vancouver Friends For Life. West End establishments, Celebrities, Oasis, Fountainhead and 1181 have donation vases where you can drop off your now out-of-cirulation pennies. Pennies may also be donated at The Diamond Centre at the annual Bake Sale & BBQ (see below)
