“A place to eat, drink and worship chocolate” is how SOMA Chocolatemakers describe themselves.
One of the few artisan chocolate makers in North American, Toronto’s SOMA make their chocolates in small batches using mostly organic, Fairtrade cocoa beans from around the world. In the SOMA chocolate lab, they use an 80 year old melangeur from Barcelona to turn the in-house roasted cocoa nibs into a smooth paste or chocolate liquor. From their they create their own unique flavour combinations or single-origin rich decadent creations, each morsel is a little bit of
chocolate heaven. Truffles, pralines, caramels, bars, drinking chocolates, gelato and so much more are on offer and make for great decision-making angst when sifting through the selections, everything looks and smells decadent. The bustling shop is a great place to pick up unique hostess
gifts, take-home memories when travelling or just a snack when out for the afternoon in the Distillery District.
SOMA Chocolatemakers has two locations: the original shop in the Mill Street Building at the Distillery District and a newly opened branch on King Street West in downtown Toronto.
I go crazy for artisan chocolates! But, Jay, which item of theirs is your favorite?
I WANT IT ALL! But when I have to choose Dark Peruvian w/ cherries is a winner!
