Opening last night, November 13 with fire and rhythm entertainment from Ember Arts performing troupe, the free, family-friendly festival flicked the switches to bring the creations to life and light. Featuring more than 25 creative installations in three of Vancouver’s downtown Business Improvement Associations:
-Downtown Vancouver surrounding the Vancouver Art Gallery
-West End at Jim Deva Plaza and 1800 Davie Plaza (Davie at Denman)
-Gastown at Blood Alley Square
Each venue becomes an outdoor art gallery, literally lighting up the faces of observers and participants. Many of the installations are interactive, making the viewer a part of the art, others invite viewers to stand back and take in the full scope of large scale light in motion. As you roam the city, explore the world with local and international creators’ works at every space including Iridescence by Niko Tiainen from Finland, APOGEE by Australia’s Chalk River Labs , local creator Tyler Soon’s Voxelite, or Moving Art by Vancouver Eastside Arts Society.
Lumière Festival illuminations run from 5pm to 9:30pm until November 16, 2025 at three downtown Vancouver locations. Visit lumiereyvr.com for map and installation details.
