Vancouver Fashion Week Opening Gala – Mazik Studio – November 1, 2011
The 10th installment of Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) kicked off with a party at Pamela Masik’s West 2nd Ave Studios. A great space for a party, the loft style studio welcomed a who’s who of Vancouver fashionistas, designers, models and supporters. The blank white walls, high ceilings and open space with ample sized runway and seating made for a perfect blank canvas to showcase the week’s designs.
Surrounded by Masik’s oversized works of art and interspersed with models, hosts, Christie Will, Meena Mann and Jeremy Szafron from FMA Weekly introduced the dozens of designers to be featured throughout the week as well as a very special performance from Goh Ballet Canada and Pamela Masik, herself. Music and dance combined to provide a backdrop for the artist to create one of her signature oversized paintings live onstage. Working herself into the medium, Masik spread the paint by hand across an approximate 7 sq ft canvas.
In support of their work to benefit social causes by spreading ‘good karma’ from person to person, Masik is donating 50% of the proceeds from the sale three of her pieces to Karma Exchange. Also during the opening event, partygoers were encouraged to buy a “Karma Drink” to further benefit the cause.
Hi, great article!
Just so you know…the actual website of the social enterprise, Karma Exchange, is http://www.karmaexchange.com.
Thanks!
Thanks for that, corrected the link!
