Chow Down before you take off!
Today at 1230pm, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and renowed Japanese Hot Dog cart, Japadog, launch the first Japadog Eating Contest. Big prizes and bragging rights are on the line as six of the hardiest hotdog lovers, chosen at random among the many registrants, will put their stomachs to the test as they compete in this summer’s ultimate eat-off: a battle royale to see who can eat the most Japadogs in 10 minutes. All Eating Contest participants will receive $15 YVR bucks and a $10 Japadog gift certificate. The winner will take home a grand prize of $250 YVR bucks and a $50 Japadog gift certificate.
After the the eating, the excitement continues with the arrival of the Vancouver Aquarium’s AquaVan, which will be setting up interactive ‘touch tables’, from 11:00am – 3:00pm by The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: Jade Canoe sculpture. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to discover the wonders of the aquatic world by touching a sea star, observing a hermit crab up close and exploring how a barnacle feeds.
The Japadog Eating Contest and AquaVan are brand new additions to YVR’s 3rd Annual ‘Take-Off Fridays’ event, a fun-for-the-whole-family summer extravaganza, offering visitors free samples, great music, live DJs and tons of exciting new entertainment, every Friday, all summer long.
