From Nanaimo to Gabriola and other parts of Vancouver Island, Port Theatre Society is supporting and growing local talent in the region by welcoming locals and those of us further afield to explore the diversity and wealth of talent right in its backyard. Share the ever-evolving relationship between audience and artists on the quest to uncover what’s in the hearts and minds of these artists.
Friday May 7th, The Discovery Series introduces audiences to Nanaimo based singer/songwriter Wilson Pascoe. Wilson’s songwriting has been inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan, Brothers Grimm, and stormy nights. Weaving stories that read like dark fairytales, Wilson’s deceptively cheerful music brings both catharsis and a joy for the macabre.
Wilson studied music as a child and immediately took to composing. His first aspiration was to write scores for film and video games because he recognized how critical music is to driving a narrative. Wilson believes music and storytelling are inextricably wed. This belief supports his special love of fairytales and fantastical things, and it what guides his songwriting today.
Wilson’s dynamic guitar playing, powerful voice, and delightful personality will lead audiences through otherworldly beauty and tragic tales that, like all good fantasy, help teach us about life.
Take part in the livestream May 7th at 7:30pm to experience Wilson Pascoe’s unique brand of bold folk- rock first hand. Streaming tickets are just $12 (viewing available for 24hours), available online at LIVESTREAM TICKET or by phone at the Port Theatre 250-754-8550
