Now in its 16th year, the New West Cultural Crawl is an annual arts & culture festival that celebrates and exhibits the vast creative talents across New Westminster. For two days, August 10th and 11th, New West artist studios and venues open their doors to welcome thousands of visitors from across Metro Vancouver.
This family-friendly event invites young and old to explore the city’s neighbourhoods; Downtown, Uptown, West End, Sapperton and Queensborough. Map guides allow visitors to explore at their leisure while checking out works by the city’s professional and emerging artists. Sixty + venues, from Galleries, and Community Centres, to Theatres and even a Brewery open the doors to welcome the exploration of the Arts.
In 2018, the Cultural Crawl welcomed over 4000 visitors, learning about 150 artists. Find out what’s new and up coming in 2019 by exploring New West Cultural Crawl August 10 – 11, 2019. Visit newwestculturalcrawl.com to download the weekend’s brochure and map guides to the five neighbourhoods.
Next weekend New Westminster will come alive with Arts & Culture. The 11th Annual New Westminster Cultural Crawl takes place August 9 & 10, 2014. The two day city-wide Arts & Cultural experience opens the doors to local artists and artisans, explores the city’s heritage, and its unique cultural footprint.
Every year arts and cultural fans come from all across Metro Vancouver to visit New West’s artists, studios, galleries, live music venues, restaurants, theatres and historical locations, exploring the “rejuvinated” New Westminster and discover upcoming and professional talent. The Royal City represents a largely undiscovered arts and cultural community that ranges from emerging artists to several acclaimed Federation of Canadian Artists members. Seven of these artists are being featured in the New West 7 Exhibition at the Van Dop Gallery starting during the New West Cultural Crawl and running until September 27th. Angie Au Hemphill, Judith Copland, Gabor Gasztonyi, Jim Walsh, Leslie Poole, Teressa Bernard, Jerry McLaughlin are the featured artist on exhibit at the Gallery at 421 Richmond Street. It is just one of the 23 venues and many more artists showing during the Crawl.
