Sunday night, the 4th annual Canadian Screen Awards were presented at the Sony Centre for Performing Arts in Toronto. Hosted by comedian Norm Macdonald, the CBC telecast covered the best and brightest in Canadian Film, Television and Digital from the past year.
First presented in 2013, the Canadian Screen Awards are the result of the merger between the Gemini (TV) Awards and Genie (Film) Awards. The Canadian Screen Awards cover a wide list of individual awards, 116 in total. This year, “Room” continued its award season strength coming out on top in the film categories. In Television, Book of Negroes and Schitt’s Creek showed the diversity of Canadian TV with their winning ways.
Special awards were also presented to “The Hour Has 22 Minutes”, Wendy Crewson, Martin Short and others.
