As we turn the page on the calendar to October, the fall entertainment season brings more indoor activities popping up around the city.
Championship: Tonight, it’s the first Vancouver derby as Whitecaps FC host Vancouver FC in the Canadian Championships Final then Sunday October 5, the ‘Caps welcome San Jose at BC Place

Marie: Tai Amy Grauman’s You Used To Call Me Marie… plays The Arts Club Olympic Village Stage at the BMO Theatre Centre, until October 12 – telling an epic story of Marie Callihoo and generations of Alberta’s Métis women through time.
Doll: The Arts Club Theatre Company presents the Canadian Premiere production of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House written by playwright Amy Herzog, in partnership with Theatre Calgary, until October 5 at Stanley BFL CANADA Stage
Tenor: Metro Theatre’s 2025-2026 season of joy moves into full gear with Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me a Tenor a fast-paced farce of life, love and lies, running October 3 to October 25
Women: Touchstone Theatre’s 50th Anniversary season launches with the acclaimed revival of Women of the Fur Trade by Anishinaabe/Slovene playwright Frances Koncan playing until October 4
Turkey: BC Lions hosts Calgary Stampeders for its 3rd Annual Gravy Bowl on October 4 at BC Place hosting a beer garden, Thanksgiving turkey carvings and a pie eating contest
Circus: The Cultch opens its 25/26 Season with a new show from Australia’s contemporary circus company, Circa – Wolf – at the York Theatre from October 1 to 18
Concert: The Shadbolt Centre welcomes the sounds of Sarah Slean to the Studio Theatre on Saturday October 4th
Festival: Screening from October 2-12 the 44th Vancouver International Film Festival brings a program including some of the best cinema from around the globe, talks, conferences, live performances and other unique events that celebrate film including the opening film acclaimed director Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague, a dramatization of the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless
Improv: Until November 1st, The Improv Centre presents thrilling, edge of your seat improv with I Know What You Did Last Weekend on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm
Mooncake: Sunday, October 5, Gateway Theatre in Richmond invites families and friends to enjoy an afternoon of live music and crafts at To The Moon: Mid-Autumn Celebration honouring the timeless traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival
Mars: October 3-5, Anvil Theatre welcomes the Royal Canadian Theatre Company presentation of the physical comedy, innuendo and silly moments laden They Came From Mars and Landed Outside the Farndale Avenue Church Hall in Time for the Townswomen’s Guild’s Coffee Morning
Indian: Massey Theatre brings to the stage on October 4th, the 14th Annual Mushtari Begum Festival of Indian Classical Music and Dance features a line-up of some of the finest Canadian and Indian artists in the world.

Senior: Running October 3-11 at the PAL Studio Theatre, Western Gold’s 2025 Have a Senior Moment Festival aims to show that creativity has no expiry date, featuring theatre, works in development, readings, music, creative workshops, artist salons and more
Immersive: Continuing until October 8th, the fan-favourite, Legendary Iceland, takes flight at Flyover joining the repertoire with the all new Awaken Canada
Value: The Museum of Anthropology at UBC presents an exhibition of acclaimed contemporary artist Rebecca Belmore. VALUE: Rebecca Belmore at the Museum of Anthropology, on display until October 19, 2025.
Longhouse: Richmond Art Gallery presents a new solo exhibition by Manuel Axel Strain, until November 9, celebrating the cedar longhouse as an important architectural form and philosophical framework that reflects the collectivist and relational values of their ancestors and communities.
Nuxalk: Ongoing at MOA is the world premiere of Nuxalk Strong: Dancing Down the Eyelashes of the Sun, on display until January 5, 2026.
NDN: Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art presents the world premiere of NDN Giver, a look at consider how the act of giving is tied to identity, responsibility, resistance, and renewal, curated by the gallery’s Assistant Curator Amelia Rea in her solo curatorial debut, the exhibition runs from September 27, 2025 to January 25, 2026.
