Early Music Vancouver (EMV) got its 2025/26 season underway this week, with Eric Guo in Recital last Sunday.
Upcoming, the season features a lineup of world-renowned artists, bold collaborations, and timeless masterpieces performed on period instruments. From transcendent vocal artistry to cross-cultural encounters, this season offers audiences a diverse banquet of performances that unite historical authenticity with the thrill of live discovery.
“The 2025/26 season invites audiences to experience music as a living, breathing, and flourishing art form,” says EMV’s Artistic and Executive Director Suzie LeBlanc. “Historically informed performance lets us step into the sound worlds of Bach, Handel, and Beethoven, and the clarity of period instruments makes every note speak anew.”
Next up, September 27th EMV presents Amanda Forsythe sings Handel at Christ Church Cathedral. The Pacific Baroque Orchestra soprano sings her signature repertoire of Handel arias.
October 9, 2025: London’s Consone Quartet returns to Christ Church Cathedral with a selection of works by Beethoven, Haydn, Mendelssohn, and more.
November 1, 2025: Schubert & Boccherini: Mimosa String Quintet Artists, finds musicians; Chloe and Christi Meyers (violins), Mieka Michaux (viola), Mime Yamahiro and Christina Mahler (cellos) playing Franz Schubert’s final chamber work, the String Quintet in C major and other works.
November 15, 2025: Tafelmusik: Brilliant Baroque; join the renowned period orchestra Tafelmusik, known for their dynamic, engaging, and soulful performances. Headed by British violinist and conductor Rachel Podger, they present their latest programme to Vancouver audiences at the Chan Centre for Performing Arts.

December 12 & 13, 2025: Celebrate the Holidays as Handel’s Messiah plays at the Fraserview Mennonite Church, Richmond for the first time (December 12) and returns to Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre (December 13) – featuring soloists Myriam Leblanc, Cecilia Duarte, Jacob Perry and Sumner Thompson, the Vancouver Chamber Choir and the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, under the direction of Alexander Weimann.
January 30, 2026: Constantinople presents Bach & Khayyam – The ensemble Constantinople and soprano Hana Blažiková bring arias by Bach with the contemplative and expressive poetry of Khayyam to Christ Church Cathedral.
February 27, 2026: Strawberry Fields: Handel, Sancho, and English Country Dances presented by Ruckus Early Music at Christ Church Cathedral. The New York City’s ensemble has a unique and playful approach to the world of early music, drawing inspiration from the groove of American roots music and the rhythm of jazz.
February 28, 2026: Dutch pianist Ronald Brautigam, known for his performances of Beethoven’s piano works on the fortepiano, performs in Vancouver for the first time in this co-presentation between EMV and the Vancouver Chopin Society at Vancouver Playhouse.
March 13, 2026: Amour Courtois: Medieval Meets Jazz brings this bold and evocative musical project, led by French jazz pianist Baptiste Bailly, reimagining 14th-century French songs through the lens of contemporary improvisation. Inspired by the enduring emotional resonance of medieval melodies, Bailly collaborates with Matthew Baker on the baryton and Efren López on the hurdy-gurdy and ouds, crafting an anachronistic yet striking soundscape at Christ Church Cathedral.

March 21, 2026: Théotime Langlois de Swarte & Justin Taylor at the Chan Centre for Performing Arts finds violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte and his fellow co-founder of Le Consort, harpsichordist Justin Taylor, present an imagined musical meeting of two great pillars of Baroque music, J.S. Bach and Antonio Vivaldi.
April 17, 2026: Amandine Beyer & Gli Incogniti False Consonances of Melancholy, at Christ Church Cathedral the Baroque ensemble lead by Violinist Amandine Beyer offer a programme exploring the works of notable Italian violinist Nicola Matteis.
May 1, 2026: the season wraps with Philippe Jaroussky: La Gelosia at Vancouver Playhouse, Philippe Jaroussky acclaimed countertenor appears with Ensemble Artaserse, performing a selection of vocal compositions by Scarlatti, Vivaldi, and the 18th-century opera master Porpora.
