For one night only this weekend, Pandora Park, in Vancouver’s Hastings Sunrise neighbourhood, will host a unique camping experience. Field Camp: An Imagined Wilderness is an evening of activities; songs, stories, crafts, films and a wrap an night of sleeping under the stars.
Inspired by the Czech tradition of tramping, a century old activity of a group taking over a wilderness area, setting up camp, and sleeping under the open air as a means to grow and celebrate friendship and community. Field Camp is a result of the Dance Troupe Practice Residency in the City of Vancouver’s Field House Artist Studio program, and organized in collaboration with Klasika, musician Barbra Adler’s upcoming musical itself inspired by tramping.
Saturday August 22nd, Field Camp: An Imagined Wilderness invites you to come dressed as your fantasy outdoor explorer, bring a potluck items to share, some old clothes for the clothes swap, and some denim for crafting. For those ready to face the elements all night, bring camp gear to help make Pandora Park into an urban campground. Then Sunday morning, pack everything out to leave no trace behind.
