Loosely translates at “a total work of art”, Gesamtkunstwerk is a new exhibition now open in Vancouver that takes people into the thinking behind Westbank’s new development, Vancouver House.
Starting with a never-before displayed Arthur Erickson sketch from his “Project 1955” designs for Vancouver, moving on to a study on Vancouverism and then the evolution of public space and design that will play a part in the renewal of the southern entrance to downtown Vancouver.
Curated by Trevor Boddy with design and architecture by Bjorn Ingels Group, designers of Vancouver House, Gesmantkunstwerk is a creative way to highlight the new development and demonstrated the inclusive vision that Westbank has for the redevelopment of the area to bring life and people into a currently barren zone. Filled with photos and model renditions the show delves into all the pieces that go into the design of the buildings; floor plans, colours, materials and exterior.
The Exhibition runs until May 18th at 1460 Howe Street – open to the public free of charge from 11am – 5pm Monday – Sunday.
