Museum: On September 30th, MONOVA offer free programming for families to gather and reflect including Gallery tours, belongings and archival materials focusing on the history of Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations
Weaving: MOA at UBC Sunday Culture Club offers Cedar Hearts for Reconciliation, artist Rita Kompst presents a hands-on cedar weaving workshop where participants will practice traditional cedar bark weaving techniques while reflecting on their personal role in advancing reconciliation.
Acknowledgement: The Cultch opens its 2024/2025 season by presenting Cliff Cardinal’s As You Like It or The Land Acknowledgement, a production from Crow’s Theatre (Toronto), September 25-29 at the York Theatre, on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
Storyteller: The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts welcomes Qwalena: The Wild Woman Who Steals Children Indigenous storyteller Dallas Yellowfly’s unique and scary theatrical multimedia storytelling performance.
Films: The Polygon Gallery offers Films Witnessing Truth And Reconciliation on September 29th. Two film programs highlight Canada’s dark history with Indigenous People and the journey to rapprochement as a Country; broken up into two programs looping throughout the day, examining the naming of this Day, Truth and Reconciliation.
Art: The Polygon Gallery’s exhibition ANTI-ICON: APOKALYPSIS by transdisciplinary artist Martine Gutierrez closes September 29th while Tales from the Crypt an exhibition over forty photographs representing the treasures of The Polygon’s vault continues until January 12, 2025
