The annual Scotiabank Dance Centre Open House is an opportunity for the public to sample a range of exciting dance styles, from ballet and contemporary to flamenco and vogue.
As is has for over 30 years, The Dance Centre continues to be a resource centre for professional dance companies and the public, providing a range of activities to the dance community. Presenting programs and events for artists and general public to build the profile of the local dance scene. Due to COVID-19 precautions, the 2020 edition of the Open House will take place online, streaming live from the studios at Scotiabank Dance Centre to a screen near you allowing the participating companies to reach audiences in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia and beyond.
“Our building has become a home for dance of all kinds, and this pandemic has highlighted how much we long to share experiences together,” says The Dance Centre’s Executive Director, Mirna Zagar. “We will continue to share dance, support artists and celebrate our creative community to the best of our abilities in these difficult times.”
The Scotiabank Dance Centre Open House: Virtual Edition will be online with the following presentations;

Thursday September 10, 5.30-6.15pm
Class: Voguing with Van Vogue Jam
Friday September 11, 5.30-6.15pm
Class: Pilates with Noam Gagnon
Saturday September 12, 12 noon-7pm
12 noon Class: AfroBeats with AKS Bison
1pm Studio showing: Voirelia Hub
2pm Class: Salsa with Bravo Dance Company
3pm Studio showing: Justine A Chambers
4pm Class: Ballet with Linda Arkelian
6pm Virtual Dance Party: with DJ Kookum (aka Dene/Cree DJ and filmmaker Cheyanna Kootenhayoo) and special guests.
