Wassailing is an ancient custom of visiting cider producing orchards to recite incantations and carols to the trees in hopes of encouraging a good harvest the following season.
This Sunday Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse in Victoria is reviving the tradition with their Winter Wassailing ceremony at 2pm his Sunday January 19th at the Farm as part of a day of family fun and activities. From 1130 – 1330 tours of the orchard and ciderhouse will happen every half hour, complimentary warm cocktail (or non-alcoholic drink) and cider sampling will be available too. Caroling and Mummer’s plays will be performed by Island Thyme Morris and Quicksbottom Morris Dancers.
If you’re hungry, Food For Thought and Truffles Catering will be on hand to fill your belly and Wannawafle is creating their own Wassail Waffles.
Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse is located at 2487 Mt St Michael Road, Saanichton BC
