This Sunday one of Dine Out Vancouver Festival‘s many popular events took place under bright skies around the West End. The West End Brunch Crawl presented in association with Vancouver Foodster and West End BIA.
An early crowd gathered outside Marquis Wine Cellars to register and start the day off with a Mimosa or glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
Next Billy (@billyforce), Alvin (@alvinkclee) and I headed on our way to eat our way around the West End.
First stop was over to Just Juice Bar where Reza and TJ were serving up some fresh organic cold-pressed juices; The Green Thumb – Kale, Spinach, Celery, Cucumber, Ginger, Lemon, Apple and Coconut water. The Pink Lady – Pineapple, Pear, Beet, Ginger and Muddled Raspberry. Or smoothies; Think Bigger – Kale, Spinach, Avocado, Banana, Pineapple, Orange, Lime, Ginger and Coconut water. Blue-ish Coconut – Blueberries, Avocado, Banana, Spirulina, Lime, Coconut, Coconut Oil and Coconut Water
Next at Milestones Denman at English Bay, Chef Jerson served up pancakes with fruit salad and a hearty prime rib hash topped with a poached egg and another morning Mimosa this time raspberry
Down the street, Central Bistro has a plate of three quick & fresh bites from their breakfast menu; grilled vegetable & Okanagan goat cheese sandwich, homemade quiche and vanilla yoghurt granola parfait. For a more in-depth taste of Central Bistro’s great menu, check out their $28 Dine Out Vancouver Festival dinner menu
Across Comox Street, at the recently opened Seventeen 89 Restaurant + Lounge, the luxurious, old world atmosphere was reflected in their classic Montecristo sandwich but with a tasty twist, served on French Toast.
Next up the new (to us) Buck Stop, served up a great simple and comforting breakfast sandwich of their signature barbeque brisket, cheddar and egg on sourdough with smoked pepper aioli.
A block away at Le Parisien the trio of breakfast tastes offered up were Fritatta A La Provincale, Quiche Lorraine and Shortrib poutine. If you’re looking for more than breakfast, Le Parisien is also participating in Dine Out Vancouver Festival with a $28 set dinner menu.
Taking a turn around the corner on Robson, the friendly staff at De Dutch Pannekoek House served up two versions of their classic pannekoeken – sweet with strawberries and whipped cream or savoury with De Bakon and cheese. Served under the sun on the sidewalk patio with fresh orange juice, raspberry lemonade or a coffee it was a filling end to the food on the Crawl.
The final stop on tour around the West End was at the great local coffee bar, WE Coffee. The gathering of people lingering in and outside of the coffee house showed the patrons appreciation of the care WE puts into their coffee.
If this all sounds good to you and you’re lamenting missing out, don’t despair, there’s still time to get in on the action this coming Sunday for The East Van Brunch Crawl. Book your tickets now so you don’t miss your chance to take a culinary tour around Vancouver’s East Side!
